Lovely lady in her 80’s was brought to our practice by relatives. While she could eat, her front teeth were rapidly deteriorating.

After taking into account several factors our solution was simple. Single visit rapid appointment. ALL teeth were repaired with composite adhesively bonded restorations without numbing anaesthesia. The bite was carefully adjusted so that the load was equally balanced. The teeth were protected, the chewing improved, the jaw joint position corrected and the smile was better too! With our thanks to the amazing scientists that have given the profession such durable, robust and aesthetic materials.

These stains were ruining the smile. Solution …mild enamaloplasty ( long name for micro sand blasting the top bit to remove surface stains) and then a skim of white filling to mask and protect.

Composite build up

EM had chipped front teeth and came to us for advice regarding veneers or crowns. We suggested that some white fillings placed at the edge to improve length and shape would suffice. White composite fillings were bonded onto existing teeth and the bite balanced carefully.

Chipped front teeth can be easily corrected with modern materials. Original tooth is retained, the missing portions are “added” on using adhesive dentistry. It is sensitive free so no Anaesthesia is required.

The teeth were a lovely colour, size and shape. We did not wish to disturb this harmony or touch the tooth. Fortunately improvements in materials allowed us to “simply” use adhesive bonding of white fillings onto existing teeth. NO tooth was removed NO anaesthetic is required! Just smiles and hugs afterwards

Internal Bleaching

DH decided to have some treatment for the tooth that darkened gradually following Root Canal treatment. He did wish for intervention, so we used a process of bleaching the tooth. The results were as patient wished. HOWEVER, it has been noted that the process can reverse with time.

JK attended for replacement of failed veneers. These had been in place for several years, but is unusual to see this type of failure. We identified the cause to be mainly a design and adhesive failure so were confident to suggest replacements. We managed to improve the smile with very minimal intervention. Only FOUR Veneers were placed. The canine teeth had white fillings placed near gum line and the whole mouth was lightened using take home tooth whitening.

MN did not wish to undergo one and a half years of orthodontic treatment and an Implant to replace a missing front tooth from a childhood mishap.

We used FOUR Veneers to balance the proportions. In real life the midline shift is not as noticeable as the pictures and the patient recently had a 12 year review with no change. Very happy patient.

CC attended our practice on recommendation for a cosmetic solution. In keeping with our minimal intervention concepts, we placed two veneers on front teeth and a simple adhesive white (composite) filling to balance the front teeth. The dark baby tooth was extracted. Instead of an Implant we placed a non- invasive adhesive bridge.
